The first tournament of the season is done! On Saturday, FTC Team 8373 Diva Force competed at the Mt. Home Mayhem tournament. There were 12 other teams from across Arkansas all testing and competing with their robots for the first time!
Students packed the trailer and the van on Friday afternoon, and headed to Mt. Home. In Mt. Home, we were incredibly thankful to be able to have dinner with a student's family where we got to enjoy amazing spaghetti and meatballs as well as some tasty holiday desserts!
The next morning, we got to the venue right as the doors were opening to set up our pit and complete inspection. The team had judging at 9:30 that morning, so after everything was set up, the team got together to practice their presentation a couple of times before completing their actual judging.
Once judging was completed, we had lunch with a student's family again (how lucky are we) before starting our robot matches. Since there were only 13 teams at this event, we got 6 qualification matches. Our students did a great job of continuously trying to improve their robot even though there was not much time for testing between matches.
After all the qualification matches were completed, playoff alliance selection began. We were not chosen for an alliance, but we stayed to watch the matches and cheer on the teams who were still competing and for the award ceremony. At the award ceremony, the team won the Reach Award and finished 10th.
